A lovely tour along the new community footpath in O’Gonnelloe by Lough Derg. Learn about the heritage all the way back to Brian Boru’s day! There is plenty of lovely nature too!
The new footpath was built by the local O’Gonnelloe community in stages since 2013. Local community members got together on Saturdays to do the work and they also provided machinery such as excavators, tractors, trailers and rollers to help with the work. This was done with the help and support of Clare Co. Council, who provided the stone for the footpath surface free of charge.
The community in O’Gonnelloe has also recently refurbished the Community Centre.
There is a “pop up” community cafe each Saturday morning and lots of social activities each week, such as concerts, ballet classes, social dancing, set dancing, bridge and an active retirement group.
